My sister, Minnie Maud French, also worked in the laundry in Parsons, KS.  She met Mr. William Ellis Cassey of Pittsburg, KS, who was born September 14, 1874.  They were united in marriage September 26, 1898 at Girard, Kansas.  They lived in Pittsburg, KS where a girl was born to them; Vera H. Cassey, August 23, 1899.  Later they moved to Los Angeles, California.  Will went to work for the City reading water meters.  Their home was at 507 East 28th Avenue, where a boy was born, William E. Cassey, November 20, 1909.  Otto E. Cassey was born November 15, 1911.  Winifred Nancy Cassey was born August 11, 1915.  Several years later Maudie and Will separated and were divorced but later remarried.

William Ellis Cassey died July 27, 1941, and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA.  The son, William E. Cassey, died November 24, 1938 and was also buried in Forest Lawn.  Maudie passed away December 18, 1963.Vera M. Cassey married Mr. Andrew Don Ortez, who was born November 29, 1897 in Oakland, California.  They lived with Vera’s mother, Maudie, at 507 East 28th Avenue, Los Angeles, CA.  They had no children.  Their present address is 1661 North Puente Avenue, Space 72, Baldwin Park.  Don passed away October 26, 1987.  Vera died January 10, 1990.

Maudie’s other son, Otto Ellis Cassey, was united in marriage to Miss Louise Anita (don’t know other name) July 1, 1933 and they have three children.  The first a girl, Claudette Lovell Cassey, born January 3, 1936.  The next a boy, Dennis Leland Cassey, born September 23, 1938, and another boy, Howard Neil Cassey, born August 21, 1942.  They all live in Los Angeles, CA.

Winifred Nancy Cassey married Mr. Wayne Saunders, March 15, 1935.  They live at 3853 N. Muscatell Street, Rosemead, California.  They have six children: Wayne Morgan, born April 10, 1936 (Killed in Mexico December 25, 1991 in car accident); Douglas Rayburn, born January 14, 1939; the next a girl, Lynne Annette, born March 7, 1940; the next a boy, Ronald Kirk, born August 29, 1941; then a girl, Jeannette Diane, born September 10, 1943 and the last, a girl, Judith Kathleen, born February 6, 1945.  Wayne was killed in México, December 24, 1991 in a car accident.

Wayne is a master tinner by trade, but was injured while opening a pop bottle that exploded with the cap hitting him in the eye and the eye ball had to be removed and he suffers with it terribly.  He hasn’t been able to work at his trade for several years.  Winifred works for some company as bookkeeper and is putting all the children through school.  Their children were taught to love the Lord and obey their parents.  They are a lovely family.  Winifred is putting all of them through college.  One boy is in the Navy, and one girl is studying to be a doctor.
